Westlake Gynecology and Women’s Healthcare is a unique medical practice devoted to preventative care, cancer screening, and evaluation and consideration for operative intervention. In the early 1990’s, Dr. Ambe-Crain relocated her large Los Angeles based practice to Westlake Village in the Conejo Valley. After several years of practicing obstetrics round the clock, she decided to seek a healthier balance between her personal and professional life and limited her focus to gynecology. Detection of breast, cervical, uterine and ovarian cancer as heart disease and diabetes, are included in routine office visits. Psychological aspects of a variety of conditions are integrated into her evaluation and therapies. Maintenance of updated expertise in hormonal regulation and contraception from adolescence to menopause is a hallmark of her practice.
Patient education and open respectful communication in a nurturing environment is a cornerstone of my practice philosophy. Hoping to forge long -standing partnerships with my patients, I direct my care to promote balance between the mind, body and spirit. My goal is to encourage maintenance of sound nutrition and exercise, and tailor prescriptions and medical advice to fit my patients instead of following the “one size fits all” methodology. I still believe despite all the changes in healthcare, medicine remains both an art and a science and I consider it an ongoing privilege to care for my patients.
At the initial visit, a complete intake of medical history and a comprehensive physical exam is offered to all patients. Complete blood work analysis and hormone testing are ordered when necessary.
Other services include contraceptive counseling, HPV/STD testing, colposcopy, STD treatment and evaluation of menstrual disorders.
Evaluation for mammography, CT and MRI scans, and ultrasound imaging are also assessed.
Despite their reliance on modern technology and pertinent laboratory reports, a strong focus on the symptoms and complex mind-body connection enables me to best support the physical and mental well being of my patients.
